We are so glad you have taken the time to visit our site and learn about this group. We are overjoyed that so many out there are discovering the deep spiritual connections that are found in this lifestyle. Now we have a place to come together where we can find likeminded people to explore and journey with. Finally there is a refuge for those of us who have suffered at the hand of authorities, who through ignorance and a puritanical belief system, led them to persecute and even prosecute us through harassment and state sanctioned legal action. Through this organization we hope to shed light into the dark places of these "Puritans" imagination. We will educate and show the community at large that the Hollywood image of non-consensual control and abuse is the opposite image of the reality we live. We can accomplish this through open communication and education into our methods and lifestyle.
Spiritual Hedonism is the discovery and practice of making a deep spiritual connection while engaging in hedonistic rituals. Many wonder just what we mean when we use the word "Hedonism". Hedonism is defined by the Websters dictionary as 'the doctrine that pleasure or happiness is the sole or chief good in life' and the first three synonyms associated are 'carnality' 'debauchery' and 'sensuality'. So when we use the word hedonism, we literally mean living for carnal and sensual pleasure often through (but not always) debauchery. This is not to say that every participant of these types of practices finds a spiritual connection within them, but many of us do. In fact, for many of us, this is where we find our greatest spiritual connection. For some of us we have another faith or religion that we have no intention of leaving, but find that being a Spiritual Hedonist also is not a conflict with our primary faith.
So you may wonder what types "practices" are we talking about here. Many of the journeyers into Spiritual Hedonism are involved in BDSM and swinging. BDSM is an overlapping acronym that stands for 'Bondage and Discipline' 'Dominance and Submission' 'Sadism and Masochism'. Swinging or partner swapping is a non-monogamous behavior, in which singles or partners in a committed relationship engage in sexual activities with others as a recreational or social activity. Swinging can take place in a number of contexts, ranging from spontaneous sexual activity at informal gatherings of friends to planned regular social meetings to "hooking up" with like-minded people at a swingers' club.
